Default 85.5 and on 944 windshield w/o antenna

I now have this nice growing seam in my windshield on my '87 944. I looked into prices for the windshields with the antenna and i'm getting prices between $500 and $550 for the glass and installation.

Does anyone know where I can get a new windshield w/o the antenna? I've heard the pre 85.5 windshields will fit a late model but only just and they tend to form leak problems. For a daily driver it is not worth the hassle of a possible leak when it rains or I wash my car but I don't see it fit to spend so much on a piece of glass with a antenna that I rarely ever use anyways. If my car were a deticated track car that would be different to install an early model windshield.

Will I just need to bare half a grand?

check around, i found one for 400 at the dealership- not installed- but eventually found a used one. I think pete said his was only 350 or something installed from a glass shop.

mine was 230 dollars. It has a tint strip on the top too. They even came to my house and installed it.

Ryans Glass or something.

Do a search on safelite though. There are good and bad stories but I think I am going to go with them to replace the cracked windshield in my 951. I remember they quoted me around 200 installed at my house a while back.
