Default Heard this suspension noise?

Yesterday after about 40 miles of mixed highway and street driving I started to hear a moaning from the front right of the car when going over bumps and the suspension compressed. After a while it got louder and an additional noise that sounded like a deep guitar string being plucked arose. I could imagine the front right spring being plucked by something. Those noises continued over bumps for about 30 miles until I parked the car. After sitting outside in 40 F. temperatures for about four hours, I drove the car home, and there were no noises. This morning I drove for about 15 miles, somewhat spiritedly at times, and the moaning noise (a low-pitched whoooo) returned, but not so loud as before. The car has just under 500 miles on it, and I'm still staying under 4200 RPM.

Any ideas what is causing this and whether I should be concerned?

I have the same thing since day 1. I think the firmer suspension makes this car make funny noises which maybe normal for this car. Cold days seem moreso then warmer days and also if car is left standing for awhile. I have 2800 miles on mine. Regards. Mike

It could me your front swaybar bolts coming loose. Mine did at around 1k miles causing the front suspension to make weird noises. Simple fix.

The suspensions in the GT2 and GT3 do make noise, so some of it is normal, some people say thier swaybars were lose, had everything checked here and all was good including the alignment.

Also do a search here, many cars were delivered with 'travel packing' foam still in the springs. If I remember rightly this had lead to some odd noises.

FWIW, I have over 6000 miles on my GT3 and it has never made any unusual suspension noises.

Chris,

I hear the guitar plucking sound all the time. Everything else seems fine and I have heard lots of people complaining of the same so I assume its normal.

Were you driving your car on 202 North in the afternoon a couple days ago somewhere just north of King of Prussia? Yesterday afternoon I think. Anyway saw a grey GT3 and there can't be that many in the area.

Hey, Brian. Yep, that was me. Hope I was driving politely.

The suspension noises come and go, but were at a lower volume today. Odd that it's just the right side. I guess when I give her a bath I should put her up on stands and see if the sway bar is loose.

Macfly, I checked for packin material the day I brought her home, after reading of some experiences here. Happily the dealer prep dealt with that!

Just got to 500 miles. Another 500 and I'll be past the 4200 RPM limit, and have less excuse for being a turtle.

The spring boing sound is normal, I;ve had it too, though only in cold temperatures.
The one thing you might want to check is the sway bar. Mine got loose in the summer.

I don't really have a clunking sound, it was the moaning and the boinging that was surprising me.

The swaybars will make a clunking sound, the springs will make the boing sound.
