Bad diverter valves?
ow can I tell if my diverter valves are bad? I rarely hear a honking sound when gradually accelerating in second from about 2200- 3200 RPM. At that time the engine is making a little boost with a barely open throttle plate.
thanks

At that RPM, you will hear a moaning sound. Not necessarily honking. If you have Bosch DVs, and you do, you can be pretty well assured that, sooner or later, they will fail.

When my OEM DVs started "honking", I had my dealer pay for Baileys and replace them under warranty...

It is making a moaning sound more than a honking sound. I cannot get it to reproduce the sound when I try to. How can I convince the dealer they are bad? Does the moaning does it mean they are leaking? My warranty is up in 2 months. Is there a way to test them before I go to the dealer?

Practice reproducing the sound, carefully modulating power at the rpm range where the problem shows up. You should be able to then do it for the dealer.

It's not always a torn valve that causes the intermittent noise. Mine were slightly out of round and would get worse as the engine warmed up, but the actual valves were intact. Problem gone with the Bailey's DV
