Default Smog Pump??? I don't need no stinkin' smog pump...

Sorry I don't have pictures gang, but the cursed air injection pump and related diverter valves came off early this morning...by my own hand! I don't know who to be angry/disappointed with: the Porsche Engineers for CREATING such a pathetic "band-aid" or the US EPA (or whichever Federal acronym is involved in such affairs) for DEMANDING such a pathetic "band-aid"??? Anyway, that shiz is long gone and the @ss end feels a bit lighter today! HA! If your car still has these precious bits of pumpery (I think I just made that word up) attached...GET RID OF IT! It makes things sooo much neater in the engine bay! Of course, I think my car was the very last one to still have it all attached!

"...That's not my pump, baby (said in Austin Powers voice)"

Looking into the engine bay, it's located on the drivers side, on the front of the engine (front as in reaching toward the front of the car...which I guess is the backside of the engine...LOL).

having a smog pump on a 930 is like caging a great white shark up, it kills the poor thing and needs to be free to terrorize the sea.

Belief it or not but my highly modified Ruf still has the air pump!! Will have it removed during my next service. Dont know why the mechanics did'nt remove it long time ago when they should have.

I had mine on as well for a long time although the belt was off. I finally removed the deadweight, etc. and cleaned up the engine compartment.

Hey wait a minute your driveway looks like mine.....LOL

Glad you got rid of the wretched thing...I use mine as ballast weight inside the car so Z06 drivers can catch-up!

Did you notice that the air pump is made by Nippondenso...howz that for Japanese technology in our German cars!

Here is another good pic!

RUFRUF,
You have to close up the holes with 6 bolts where the Smog pump pipes come out from the bottom of the engine.

Does'nt make a big difference but firstly you dont need it, secondly it takes up unnecessary space and lastly you save maybe abt a kilo.

Thanks Seemer
Nevertheless removing that useless smog pump lets the engine just be itself, free of no worries sorta speak!
