Full time Sport exhaust built to whatever level of loudness you prefer. All based on what size pipe you use. Mine growls very nicely at throttle but quiet driving around town.

1999Porsche911, I see and understand the similarity between your MOD to the standard exhaust cans versus the PSE cans. In the PSE pic below, what is the part circled in red... and what function does it serve? Does it have anything to do with being able to turn the PSE on and off (i.e. from "quite" to "loud" and from "loud" to "quiet")? Just trying to make sure I understand the exhaust MOD, and why there is an "extra" piece on the PSE. Also, do you think a good muffler shop cound fabricate/duplicate your exhaust MOD?

My mod does not include the valve (what you circled in red). It is full time open. I used a 1.5 inch pipe for my mufflers but you can use bigger or smaller depending on how much exhaust you want to bypass the full muffler. Any muffler shop should be able to bend, cut and weld the pipe. My pipe was bent to 45 degrees and then cut and at angle to meet the welding spots on the muffler. The mufflers in the picture are STOCK mufflers that come on the 3.6 engine.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it!

Nice info, but just wondering if this mod will affect factory warranty?

Thanks!

I don't see why it would, since it is a mod similar to what Porsche sells. But with Porsche, you never know. They could void the warranty because you didn't use their windhield washer fluid.

Is the picture of the modified exhaust from a 997? I have a 997S and as far as I can see it doesn't look like the ones in the picture, although it's pretty hard to see the muffler by just looking up under the car. How much trouble is it to remove the mufflers, it looks like the cats and several other things need to be removed to get to them. I wanted to have a local muffler shop modify mine (very good exhaust tech but no Porsche experiance)

I have never removed the 997,mufflers, but you can remove and reinstall both 996 mufflers in less than 45 minutes lying on your back under the car. 5 bolts each side.

1999 the mufflers in the pictures above are from a 996. How do you know the same mod will work for a 997 or 997S?

Does anyone have a picture of a stock 997 muffler that was removed, I still don't think mine looks like that.
