Has anybody modified inner door panels....
I'm getting the inside door panels refinished and can modify the existing look... any pictures of anyone that has done this?

I just recovered them with aftermarket carpet, and vinyl. Basic colors. With that cardboard/wood you could add quite a bit - but I am trying to make them LIGHTER.

Jessa's old Weissch had some interesting speaker boxes added. They brought the speakers out a bit, allowing for more depth of the individal speakers. It was done very professional and looked great.

Hey Rick,
I've done a bit of custom work on mine.
I don't have a current picture but the following is of the first stage.
The finished panel now has suede on the top portion and the speaker rings are also covered in Ostrich leather.
Did you have anything specific in mind?

That has got to be the understatement of the week.

Thanks a lot guys.
The finished panels look even better with the suede. And trimming the speaker rings with leather made a big difference.
I will try to post new pictures soon.
My car as become somewhat of a testing ground for a set of templates and techniques I am developing. Once I'm done, I should be able to offer the service to those who want to re-vamp their interior, either as a whole or in parts. The technique will be applicable to many different styles, including wood ,carbon fiber, brushed metals etc. or all leather.

Paul... I'm also trying to figure out a new pattern for the doors to alter the look from stock which is nice, but it's just not great... I'm trying to get ideas as the car will be in the interior shop next week.

Hey Rick,
I think that the important thing to keep in mind is that the door panels, especially the passenger side, flows into the dash. Few cars have such a perfect integration of the door panels into the whole.
There are horizontal lines that should not be broken if you want to keep that original effect. Aside from that, you can do whatever you want inside each panel.
This is a rough draft of where I am going with mine:
As you can see, I even changed the original panel I showed you guys so that the lines and different materials would flow better. This is an actual picture of the door panel I have in the car right now. The rest of the interior is computer generated.
Whatever you do on the door panels, will impact on the dash and ultimately the center console.
