Default New Order - Suggestions?

Now that I've disclosed the classified code for my forum name, I figure I probably should come out of the closet.

I've finalized my order but unfortunately can't place the order because the X51 option is currently not available.

I'd appreciate any comments and/or suggestions / recommendations regarding the order.

Here's what I've come up with:

997 C4S

GT Silver Metallic (U2)
Black Full Leather (AT)
19" Carrera Sport Wheels (XRR)
Wheel Caps with Colored Crest (446)
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (482)
Self Dimming Mirrors (267)
Carrera Power Kit (X51)
Sport Shifter (XCZ)
Adaptive Sports Seats (P01)
Heated Seats (342)
Three Spoke Multi-Function Steering Wheel (431)
Door Finishers in Leather (XTV)
Rear Center Console in Leather (XTV)
Dome Lamp Cover in Leather (XZD)
Floor Mats with Leather Edging (XX1)
Extended Navigation Module (672)
Bose High End Sound Package (680)
Remote CD Changer (692)

PCCB!! means never having to clean brake dust ever again (esp with silver car that doesnt need as much washing as black) CRG

I thought the leather storage cover was "Rear Center Console Cover in Leather (XTV)"

I looked at the ceramic brake option....couldn't justify it.

I'll consider the illuminated door sills. I saw a post recently about them.

As for the thicker steering wheel, can I still get the multi function three spoke and the thicker rim?

BC - the rear center console is the part that surrounds the shifter and goes back between the front seats and supports the leather storage cover (a.k.a. center arm rest which covers the oddments tray). What crg1717 is saying is that you can get the leather storage cover with a Porsche logo or the model designation embossed on it. I have a 996 and have "Carrera" on the leather storage cover (sorry for the crappy pic). BTW - nice specs on your car!

Got normal wheel in my 997S and the thicker wheel in my 04M3. Gotta tell ya I can't get used to that thicker wheel. Just sitting at a light, the thicker wheel seems to make it feel like I'm driving a NASCAR racer (barf). One which needs big forearms and strong hands to steer.

Check your multi-function wheel functions. They seem unnecessary. Scrolling thru the nav unit, for example, seems like something you wouldn't do unless the car were standing still. Also the triangle shape looks less appropo compared to the round one. IOW, the trangle center has been around along time, the round shape looks like a newer, later model.

IMO, I think the multi-function wheel looks better then the round standard wheel. It looks richer, something you should get with a 100 grand. I use the vol. and the station/track button in my M3 all the time.

Definitely, me too. Agreed.

My "problem" is the rest of the buttons on the wheel may not seem that necessary. Then you're buying the wheel for the volume and track and the other side is useless. People might want to know that when deciding.

All of my buttons are fully functional and some of them have multiple functions too. You can also program them like hot keys too.

Oh, and at night the fiber optics light up all those little buttons for a really cool nighttime display.

Rear center console in leather is code "XMZ"

I've ordered XPA - thicker steering wheel on the basis that it feels nicer (to me) in the hand. The multi-function wheel had too thin a rim and was a waste of time as I'm not getting Nav or phone.

Your option package looks good. (XTV is needed for door finishers.) You might also consider:
XSB Sport Seat Backs in Leather (std. finish is volcano gray plastic)
XMP Leather Sun Visors
425 Rear Window Wiper

There a quite a few other leather options, such as for A, B, & C pillars, switches, vents, instruments, PCM console, etc. They probably look great, but can drive the price up several thousand. Look in the order guide for the full list of goodies that are available.

If I were doing mine again, I would add a couple more leather options. Getting rid of the plastic really makes the interior more luxurious. Good luck - Hope you don't have to wait too long.
