Default Stereo Install pics 997

head unit removal. Note in the second shot the CAN_BUS plug. This is the devil that gives you PASM and PCM Failure codes when unplugged. Also toggles do not operate in PASM panel when this plug is open. These are the critical four wires that need to be spliced and lengthened and connected back to the moved OEM headunit now placed in the CD changer area.

To clear the two error codes you will get if you unplug this connector, simply turn your wheel hard left, then hard right then drive the car for 2 minutes.

Amp and crossover install. This is junior, the heart and soul of the install. Meticulous and very sharp installer. He would be the hands on guy you'd want doing the install on our babies.

Note new head unit location next to crossovers in facotry CD location (silver box, yellow sticker, second to last pic).

New head unit and bezel.

And there we have it....the first known documented stereo install on a 997 that I know of.

The stereo sounds phenominal with a temporary single 8w7 high output JL box.

Pics of custom Gately dual 10w7 box next week.

By the way, there are no glitches, error codes, no nothing. Again the head unit is simply moved from bezel to CD area and four CAN-BUS wires are spliced and extended to the new area.

THERE IS NO WAY A PORSCHE DEALERSHIP WOULD DENY ANY CLAIM ON THIS CAR BASED ON THIS INSTALL WITHOUT SEVERE LEGAL REPROCUSSIONS.

What happened to the PCM unit? Do you mean the car will actually run without it?

Anyway, looks good.
