Hello Race Fans,

The wind is kicking up and the water in Point Pleasant Beach looks angry.
Regardless, the OPA racers are ready and waiting. Over 30 teams have registered
and it looks like we'll be running two races with the smaller boats starting at
1pm and the larger boats starting at about 2:15. The delay between races allows
for helicopters to refuel.

The race course has been shortened to add more laps. We'll run from Jenkinsons
to Osborne Ave in Bay Head.

If you can't make it to the beach, you can always listen to the race live on
www.talkoffshore.com.

Remember, the real show is at 12:45 as the boats come roaring out of the inlet,
then just walk to Jenks and enjoy the show.

See ya there,

Bernie

Hello Race Fans,

It's Race Weekend! After having the race cancelled last year due to thick fog,
the teams are primed for true ocean race like only Point Pleasant can deliver.
Look for a few rivalries battles to take place. The turbine powered Miss Geico
vs the brand new Cintron 50' Mystic with monster blower motors. Wazzup vs
Strictly Business and the brand new Super Vee named Wahoo. Typhoon is coming
out to prove once again that they rule the seas and On the Chip will be looking
for a first place overall finish as the boyz from New Yawk think that their
little vee bottom can claw past any cat, regardless of horsepower. On Sunday,
they'll take it to the racecourse to end all verbal battles.

If you are a fan of the sport and want to get up close and personal, here's what
you need to know.

Friday - Boats arrive in the pits at Jenkinsons North parking lot, just a few
feet south of the inlet.
7pm - PARADE - The parade will start at the pits, go south on Ocean Ave, the
right onto Arnold Ave, up through the center of town and back to the pits.

Saturday - Bring the kids and come see the boats on display at the Jenkinsons
North Parking lot. From 9 am to 6pm
5:30 - MANDITORY volunteer meeting, Jenkinsons North Pavilion - on the boardwalk
adjacent to Pits.
7pm - 9pm Party at Jenkinsons for volunteers and racers - Tickets required - 2
tickets per volunteer boat

Sunday - Once again the Coast Guard has been gracious enough to close the inlet
so we can put on a show for the fans. If you haven't seen this before, don't
miss this chance.
The race starts at 1pm but at 12:45, all 40 race boats will come out the inlet
at full speed. Get the camera ready and get to the inlet early. Once the boats
go out, walk down to Jenkinsons to see the start of the race.

The race course goes from Jenkinsons, about two miles south to Bay Head. For
spectators on the water, you'll need to stay at the North or South ends of the
course.

After the race, the winners will go to the Wharfside while everyone else goes
back to the Manasquan River Club to be put back on trailers.

Pray for good weather and enjoy the show!!!

Osborne ave in Bay Head.........I rented a house accross the street from the coffee shop back in the mid 1990s=what nice place! I heard they closed that cool restaurant on the beach with a pub in the basement, I cannot remember the name. What a shame!
