There is also a problem with front wheels that the bearing dust cover will not fit into those hollow spokes wheels. You have to remove that cover to install those wheels. Also as mentioned before, replicas are ALOT heavier depending where its manufactured (most of the stuff comes from italy) and they bend much easier if you hit some holes in the road but its also easier to make them staight in the shop what repaires wheels. The nut-holes are to small and paint is damaged really easy when taking off and putting on the wheels..
I have had those replicas for 2.5 years I still have them for daily driving they are more or less ok!

Is there only the problem with the dust caps on early cars or something? My dust cap doesn't have any issues on the front. I'm running 18x8 - 52mm.
And as far as the hollow spokes, the front bead of the wheel is hollow, which runs down into each spoke. This is why you must buy the special $70 dollar metal valve steams that have 2 sealing surfaces. I made the mistake of paying $30 bucks for stems I didn't need off of eBay, and then had to turn around and buy these special stems!

Two words on replicas: heavy and soft.
The prices are cheap because once you buy a set, you praticaly have to pay someone to take them off your hands. Porsche 993/996 twists will hold their value!
BTW, unless you have some mods/unique suspension setup, anything over 10" on the rears will give you trouble.

Ok, I'm wrong.
Not sure why listers have commented that 9's on all corners work so well. Another .5" in the rim does not exactly translate to tread profile.

I have a 285 in the back, and it's a close fit, but I wish I would have went with a 295. The closest thing to my sidewalls is one of the nuts on the spring plate. It's about a finger width gap away from my sidewall lol.

Replicas wheels have no value to me, in fact have negative value.
Any time I consider a P car purchase I DEVALUE for replicas wheels of any kind or size. There is so much absolute junk out there I assume them a liability. As such it is a hassle to get rid of and have to find replacements for.

Ive heard you can get 11" on all 944s? Is this true? I have 10" now.
Is there that big of a difference between 10, 11, 12 to justify a wide body kit?
What about in front whats the biggest you can run in stock and widebody form (if using gtracing or air wide body kit?)

You can fit a 305 under a stock bodied 968 and a 295 under a stock bodied 944. If you want to do minor mods you can get a 335 in the rear.

I have 2 sets of Mille Miglia replica wheels. One set is Turbo Twists, the other set are Cup 2's, plus I have a single spare rear Cup 2.
Out of these 9 wheels, I think I actually have 1 that is straight and not bent. They are all second hand, so I couldn't tell you how it happened, but IMHO, they are just junk.

The OEM Porsche hollow spokes are the best value for money, whether 993's or 996's. Light strong and easy to clean. The special valve stems are in the $15 range from sunset.

If your on a budget and its a street car then the replicas are fine, but as many have said they have very little residual value. As others have said they are also very heavy. An 18X10 Mille Miglia Cup 3 rim I had, weighted 32.7lbs, versus 24.5lb for an equivalent 993 Hollow spoke. Carrera lightweights are actually a little lighter by about 1lb.
The replica wheels are amazing value for money, but I would never touch them again.
I now only deal in Porsche wheels. I have many wheels for sale including 993 and 996 hollows if anyone needs any.

Sam- Sunset has the special stems for $15 total, or a piece? lol, there is a big difference and I found that out when I had to order from Aristocrat!
As far as front wheels, the new Excellence has an '86 951 running 10" RH wheels all the way around. Doesn't mention tire size, but either way that is a big front wheel. Do they make a 18x9" 993 hollow spoke for the narrow body cars?

Actually I think the price was less than $10/stem, which floored me. Yes they make a 9" 18 ET52 its a 993 362 138 00. I haven't seen a 996 equivalent but its probably out there. You can get at least a 275 tire up front, if everything is right, I have seen 315's at the back with stock bodywork, and some easing of the fenders.

I've been considering going to a 18x9 up front if they were available. I havent ever seen any for sale, so this should be fun! I was thinking either 245 or 255 up front.
