Yes. The Turbo S is a dog out there. There is no low end power. (On a side note the first day I got it I pulled out into traffic and almost got creamed) It is frustrating. However, it is heaven on the track. It's all up to you and what you are looking for. Do you want to be a few hundreths of a second faster than your competition during a run that takes about 60 seconds, or or do you want to blow by another car while doing 120 mph on a track?

According to that tranny calculator the top speed in 4th with an S2 tranny is between 120-135mph depending on tire size (15" rim with 60 profile tire will do 123 for example, 17" rim with 40 profile tire does 134)

So basically you brake as late as possible and keep it high in revs for as long as you can...what RPM does the big turbo kick in on the TS?

either my calculator or your speedo is off by 20mph...lol

top speed with that size tire on an S2 box would be 120 in 4th, 159 in 5th.

maybe you had a downhill tailwind

I have a girl who loves a good adrenaline rush. She has not got to ride in the 924s yet but mabye this weekend. Had it at 154. It isn't stock and will have a new trans so I don't know what will happen to the top end but who cares. I just want to drive it.

I also believe that they had planned to use the 16 valve S head on the turbo, had the market dictated.

We are aware of a 10,000 RPM NA 300 HP 8 valve in the midwest.
When he switches to the 16 valve, he will gain about 100 HP at that RPM.

I can also tell you that certain things seem to "click into place" as I change my own engine.
Dry-sumping sees some particular factory pieces work in VERY INTERESTING, almost pre-concieved ways.........

ST,
300 bhp , is that from a 2.5 L engine .....

The S is much faster than a regular 944 2v, the big mistake made by most is going to 17 or 18 inch wheels , keep the 16's with low profile tires and watch it go .....

Dont worry, we both have slow auto-x cars now

However being able to leave it in 5th gear and blow by traffic on the expressway on the way to the auto-x's is great

Different sized tires will also play a factor in comparing engine speed and actual speed.

back to the tire size question..

the 944 speedo is calculated by a given tire and wheel size related to a known size of the speedo gear. on the early cars this is measured by front driver wheel rotation and on late cars by a sensor on the transmission. either setup, with tires sized much differently will affect this significantly.

im not saying your math is incorrect, maybe you really do have a 951 transmission. maybe its better
