Default Help me restore this Turbo S2

OK, I know there have been posts about this car on here before. Well, I decided to buy it. I intend to restore it to factory original. I'll need some help identifying and locating the original parts.

Here is what I know that I need:

- Rear Spoiler/wing. The decklid is correct but the spoiler is not.
- Rocker Panels.
- Wheels.
- Steering wheel with Airbag.
- Fog lights.
- 3rd brake light.
- Shift ****.
- Radio.

In all cases above I have good aftermarket parts for sale/trade once I find the correct factory parts.

Lucky for me the interior is in much better shape than I was lead to believe. Someone here described it as "carbon everything". As it turns out all that carbon (except the shift ****) was stickers. It literally just peeled off with a little heat from a hair dryer. The leather underneath is in great shape.

Another pleasant surprise was that the interior is much darker than the photos from the seller indicated. Those photos must have been overexposed or something because the interior is actually dark grey.

I intend to remove all three painted wipers, strip the paint, and repaint them black. Same with the door handles.

Here are the before and after shots of the "carbon everything" removal.

If I had to put that much money into it, I'd make it a Turbo S replica.
I would keep the steering wheel. It looks better than the stock one.

I'd get rid of the front yellow corner signals...my personal opinion is they just date the cars..in Europe the originals were clear...I thought the car wasn't bad and was tastefully done but that is always personal taste and opinion...I would never touch the wale tail as I feel that is the signature of these cars and the 964 Turbos have one of the best, if not the best of these iconic tails...what year is this car?

Bklyn964Turbo - This car is a 1992 Turbo S2. I agree about the clear lenses. I will probably get the clears and the standard lenses and have both sets. Changing them out on occasion.

Metal Guru - I really like the Turbo S look as well but these S2 cars are rare (only 20 in the US) and I don't want to cut into these fenders. If my restoration effort does not pan out the Turbo S clone is my backup plan.

I have to say that the car looks really rather good as it is! I'm not a fan of the carbon, so that was a good move, but I would think there are plenty of people on here who would happily trade their standard parts for your wheels, steering wheel and pedals and probably even your tail. Personally I would only get rid of the wing and the rocker covers and just enjoy it as is. Any RUF parts are worth more than the OE parts, so you'll probably make money on those if you trade them, and they'll be plenty of people interested in a trade. Alternatively buy them off eBay. Obviously if you buy new through Porsche, it will be far more expensive. The original radio was crap, but again you can pick one off eBay if you really want to be a stickler for orginality.

Good luck - it looks like a lovely car.

P.S. The clear lenses look great but I don't think they were fitted as standard - certainly not in Europe anyway.

I would also get the car back to factory standard just as DRV2FST.

+1 "I intend to restore it to factory original."

S2 is very rare piece that will command attention for many years to come. Personally I would like to see the visual appearence restored to 'as delivered'; including the yellow signal lenses since they were USA cars built/(modded) by Andial. Curious what intercooler does it have? Good luck with search for parts.

Was this car built with Silver paint? It looks to be Polar Silver? Does anyone know how many S2's were built in Silver? I had thought they (20) were all built in either Guards Red or Black.

What kind of wheels were stock on the car? I have a set of stock cup wheels off my 91 turbo. I also have a set of stock coilovers with 17k on them.

The car came from the factory as Zermatt silver. I'll scan the window sticker later.

The wheels are Brombacher FVD.
