Default Oil filter boss gasket

Picture is from Haynes manual


Has anyone heard about that gasket. I did not find nothing about it in factory manuals or part catalogues?
They were smoking crack or what?

I hope this isn't a necessary part... I've never seen nor replaced one.

Yeah that damn thing...
I have never used it, I have no idea who made that thing up.
I questioned (kind of) about it before and I don't know of anyone who slides anything on there.

Maybe it's some old school thing... or a blinker fluid joke...
