WTB: Torque Tube bearing carriers!
Anyone got any bearing carriers laying around for the torque tube? Bearing condition doesn't matter.
I'm willing to pay a decent price for them, especially if it means not having to purchase or remove another torque tube!! Shoot me a PM or leave a message here if you've got something!
I don't think it matters which style they are, but my car is an '87 951 (2 piece riveted style).

If you are talking about the sleeve the bearing goes into, here are a few links. The 944 uses the 25mm sleeve and the 928 ran that same TT so you can get the parts from a 928 shop.
Clarks garage has as the sleeve diamentions if you have a way of making them.

Oh great! That's one of the pieces i need!
Unfortunately i really need the entire assembly (the "puck") that carries the bearing. One of mine was damaged before removal, and i damaged another by removing it. I'm hoping someone has a spare one or two laying around so i won't have to buy a whole new TT.

There was talk some time ago about a complete bearing assembly being sold for the TT rebuild on the 928 board. Outside of a used one, that is the only source I know of. Did you use a threaded rod to pull them out?

Yes, i used a threaded rod to pull them out. Unfortunately my rear "puck" had already come apart, and cocked while it was being pulled, damaging the one ahead of it. That leaves me with two good "pucks". In retrospect i would have been better off--mentally and physically--beating them out with a 2x4 as some others have done! (Place the butt of the tube up against a wall and go to town with a 2x4 and sledge hammer)
Thanks for the link! That has really given me some ideas. It seems that the rear bearing is always the first to go on our 944 'tubes. If i'm going to go to the trouble of removing another TT for some spare pucks, i might just double-up the rear bearings (for a total of 5). It would sure be nice to have some heavy-duty bearings like that 928 guy is making, though. Unfortunately he's talking April/March for even the 928 stuff, i hope to be driving my car by then!
I do know of an early '44 being parted here, so i may just have to go that route. I'm not looking forward to doing that job twice though, haha.
