Underdrive Pulley Alert
This is a photo of the under-drive crank pulley I installed last summer on my 987 Boxster S. You can see the cracks beginning to form on several of the spokes, likely only a matter of time before something really bad happened. Fortunately, the gent building my engine found it and is replacing it. Sadly, I can't remember the brand or supplier I bought it from. But if you're considering one that looks like this one, be forewarned.

It looks like a Tarrett one, I have installed a number of these that I have had no issues with. Some of which have a considerable amount of pretty serious race miles on them.
Thank you tho, I will keep watching all the pulley's to see if any of them crack.

It could have been worse. Most of the time we don't catch them before they end up like the one below. You got really lucky that you sent the car our way when you did.
Fashion is not the primary objective for a freakin pulley.

Email me pictures and details. onefastviking @ yahoo . com , without the spaces obviously.
I'm always interested in hearing more info on good parts. I have used a few different pulleys, including a number of the ones pictured, over the years with zero failure rates.
Maybe my cars just aren't going fast enough. Or maybe the failures shown have been installation issues when holding the pulley and tightening it. It could also be stress from using too tight a belt or a bad tensioner, although those are all things I check.
