Miss those well executed shifts, pdk is faster on track but takes away just a bit from the excitement, perfect for DD or if your goal is ultimate lap time and you do t want to shift a manual

Manual cars have a higher asking price is because the seller can justify the price for having a rare commodity. Just look at 928 stick shifts right now. You'll probably have more leverage selling a stick shift car, since there are less of them around.

In the US, however, PDK will get more lookers and you will get more clicks when it is time for you to sell. Only a small portion of the market is looking for stick shifts.

You will also have no problem selling the buckets on this forum just so you know.

Luv my R which has buckets & 6MT - which were my two non-negotiable items when shopping.

My back is fine. I use a small lumbar pillow and the seat is comfy but remove the pillow and I'm uncomfortable.

Hubby has a bad back (3 surgeries) and finds the seats and ride a bit harsh - esp compared to the comfy couches in the GT4 which he loves.

As stated you'd have no trouble selling the seats if you don't like them.

Good luck!

No affiliation: Sewickley Porsche has a black R, 7500 miles, 6MT but it has Sparco seats. Decked out for track. I think they are asking around $66K.

Thanks. I saw that car. But a bit too track focused for my needs at the moment.

I have some back issues as well and am very reluctant to get the buckets for that reason.

I dd a Boxster with pdk, it was a must for me in ATL. It is a great transmission, and with the sport steering wheel you can have fun with it. Sport Chrono is a must though, but it can be added afterwards.

I do occasionally miss having a stick, but usually only on weekends with no traffic. On mountain runs, the PDK is better for me. I can keep my hands on the wheel and always be in the correct gear.

I'm using a '14 Cayman S MT as a daily driver in Dallas. The clutch is not wearing me out in traffic. I used to DD a 911SC. That will give your left leg a real workout in traffic.

I have a set of bucket seats for sale with the alcantera inserts. I am in the Seattle area. Asking $7,500. Just bought a Cayman R and it came with the bucket seats.

PM me if interested in discussing the seats.

Thanks for all of the replies in this thread.

I think I've decided to go for a 6MT rather than a PDK Cayman R. I just can't help but think I'll regret the PDK decision in the long term. On the hunt for a good one...

Default Curious...

Why didn't you go with the R you originally drove? It was a manual, correct? Any issues with it?

Go to a dealer and drive a 6MT vs. PDK to figure this out.

Don't worry about the price difference. What you save/lose on purchase you will save/lose on resale.

Get what you like.
