See the post above yours.

Elon is wrong. Drag time is wrong. Top Gear is correct.

So we may not have to wait till next summer for the plaid version after all unless your daily drive is on the Nurburgring.
Does he mean losing by a smaller margin? Or go slightly faster than the Taycan Turbo S?

Wow.

So both Tesla and Top Gear looks bad in Tesla-Gate.

The Taycan Turbo S, smacks down the Model S Raven performance once more. And Top Gear says: They threw charity Tesla's way, and gave them the faster time from several years ago, because they say it can do better.

Meanwhile, Elon (who should have more important things to do, considering Tesla's recent 3rd quarter sales). Has now jumped in the fray, quoting Drag Times. And now promising a HP Boost, cause he knows his vehicle can't win. You can't make this up.

Both parties should be embarrassed and/or ashamed of themselves, quite frankly.

Top Gear, should have posted the original Raven Performance slower times, if what they said were true. And here we thought, they were a more serious show after the three entertainers left for steaming riches.

A mess!

I'm assuming it meant: Losing by a lesser margin, considering how bad it's lost in the two races they've legitimately done so far.

This is Soap Opera, Comedy gold here.

Meanwhile, Porsche stays mum, and continues to launch and promote the Taycan and their other cars during their inaugural season of Formula E with little fuss. Tesla (and Top Gear), should take note, could learn something.

Amateur Hour at it's finest.

Of course none of this matters at all. Both cars are damn fast.

Which has nothing to do with which is the better, or more engaging, car overall.

HP Boost was announced during investor conference call last week. Nothing to do with this video from TG. Applies to all cars.

100% correct.

One thing Top Gear did get right is say that these cars are not remotely the same, except for speed. That is a very true observation....and I haven't even driven the Taycan.

Taycan as "Tesla beater" and Taycan vs. Model S is just clickbait and nonsense. They are completely different cars from a focus on performance. Taycan is much more performance oriented.

I thought that was to happen already? Sure, it's not another one? Lol

Even so: Why mention it again (or promise it now), responding on Twitter concerning the Top Gear Fiasco? It's the CEO optics of it all. Don't mind me.

Meanwhile, he said 'it should win the drag race with the boost, when it's quite likely it may not.. Sounds like a guy flying off the cuff. When he should have more pressing things to worry about, besides another drag race the Model S lost . But I hear ya.

Whatever. Top Gear posted about their testing methodology and there’s nothing wrong with it. They don’t look bad. They made a nice video segment, and it’s great to see the Taycan independent outperforming Porsche’s stats.

Top Gear should publish the video of the 12 seconds for each of the five runs and for each of the in-car cameras showing the dash of each car.
Two and a half minutes of video and this competition on this day would be settled. (for that matter, why not publish any 0-100-0 or other raw footage?)

Hasn't happened yet. Was mentioned, but was said to be rolling out in a few weeks.

Why did Elon bring it up? Because he knows that the Model S is faster than that and going to get faster. But mostly because he can't keep his mouth shut. He just can't help himself and says some really ill-timed and utterly stupid crap sometimes.

Porsche is unique that way. They always under promised and over delivers.

They have yet to publish a stat on any of their cars ever that the average Joe cannot beat. No need for trick tires or prepped surface or favourable wind or whatever. 0-60, 1/4 mile, top speed, etc are all easily attainable and beaten for anyone.

I'm sure once people actually get their Taycan's we'll see more comparison videos. YouTube is full of races where the Tesla S P100D Raven is a 10 sec 1/4 mile car. Who knows why Top Gear couldn't achieve those times. Maybe if Tesla spent some advertising money their perf numbers in reviews will suddenly improve.

On a prepared drag strip where the surface are coated with VHT compound, which is like glue. Do you see any of those compound on the airstrip?
