Thanks for the video. But Nothing new, really.
Top line Tesla Model S, loses 1/4 mile drag race, and points in between to top line Taycan, and reviewer chooses Taycan (or would choose Taycan) as preference.
Makes sense.

Looking forward to watching, but I agree.
If a brand new $150k plus PORSCHE EV couldn't beat a tweaked-but-still-7-year-old-design Model S then that would be embarrassing.
I'm really looking forward to driving one of these. If my POS (at least according to some here) Model 3 gives is as enjoyable to drive every day even with all it's flaws, a proper Porsche EV must be freaking bananas.

Seems there were some shenanigans going on:
Top Gear reported test times for an old Model S, not this one.
Also, the Model S is not in full Ludicrous Plus mode during this run. Shenanigans.
Before I get accused of being a Tesla fanboi (which, despite being an owner, I am certainly not), let me say that it's ridiculous that you have to put the Model S in such an extreme mode to achieve those times and that this is more representative of what the cars can really do. So to be fair, I do not begrudge the Taycan a victory as I feel like doing this more than a few times, the Model S would quickly fall flat.
But still, it's disingenuous of Top Gear to run the test this way and report old figures. Why didn't they test the Taycan without using launch control to make it really fair?

I was curious why the Tesla looked to be ahead through most of the race and then the Taycan had better times in 0-60 and 0-100.
It was also curious that they showed the Taycan being set to launch but no video or mention of the Tesla being set to ludicrous mode.
If that is the case then the Tesla will be faster than the fastest version of the Taycan up to real world speeds. What will it do against the 4S?

You can also have two independent VBOX settings. So that way it's really not a race and just a test of times of the two vehicles, irrespective of who's ahead. That can be a factor in the visual discrepancy as well.
Saying all that. It does look fishy to have duplicate times on another day or surface. So, Top Gear needs to address this pronto. If not, then we'll just have to wait for the next race (getting Tesla diehards hopes up again), and kinda dismiss Top Gear in the future. Always, gotta be something with Tesla and Porsche, huh? LOL
Funny. The 4 car length distance Brook noted, is consistent with the Porsche wins in the wet by Automobil. Too funny.
Stay tuned friends.

I can’t wait until real world and not propaganda and mag reviews actually happen between the two. Then I guess we will get real world.

Tesla was in front because the driver had better reaction time or jumpstarted.

My point was that this was some sham reporting by Top Gear. I'd still rather have the Taycan.

Top gear clarified why they used the old times.
Apparently the new Raven S they used had slower times and they used the faster old times to give the Raven S the benefit of doubt. They also did use Ludicrous + and launch control with both cars above 85% charge.

Oh, and one more thing.
"Drag Race Times analysis is correct. Also, there’s a software upgrade for Model S coming out that increases peak power by 50HP, so Model S should beat Porsche Taycan Turbo S by a wider margin in 0 to 60 & 1/4 mile races."
So we may not have to wait till next summer for the plaid version after all unless your daily drive is on the Nurburgring.
