New respect for EVs

Nothing goes up a long mountain pass like an EV! Smooth, effortless speed. Refill the tank on the way back down the other side.
To me, driving an EV is like driving a manual that is in the right gear at the torque peak all of the time. Tip the pedal in and go, let off and “engine brake.”
I actually laughed out loud the other day when I passed a muffler shop. Never again. Ditto the transmission shop, the quick lube, the gas station....

cant believe im about to say this but ev are better daily drivers than the current turbo cars we have. advantages of low cg, instant torque, 1 pedal driving, etc are huge. ice cars have the excitement of sound, reving, etc but all that is removed by turbo cars. regardless how good current turbos are compared to those of old, still no comparison to na engines. ive driven all the turbos and owned a gtr, audi rs5 w turbos and would take an ev over all of them for dd duties.

But the real kicker for a DD is there just aren't many opportunities to cut loose in a 911 turbo. And by many I mean "lawfully almost none". You can find ICE cars that outperform EVs, but there just isn't much to do with them on a public road.
the advantages for an EV in DD on the other hand are great. Having a full tank every morning is worth it alone, and the performance / $ is a much better value. It's really the perf / $ curve that opened my eyes to the future here. You need to spend 3x as much to outperform a Model 3. That curve is just brutal and portends some massive upheavals in the auto industry. I don't see any coming back from that. We're only recently seeing any significant investment in battery technology.

My son has a Jeep Wrangler, which is obviously not in the mix of cars that we are discussing here. It has a 2.0L turbo ICE. It also has an electric motor that gives it a boost until the turbo spools up. The combination is very intriguing, and it almost makes a pig like the Jeep feel quick. I can see a 911 in the near future that gets a significant boost from an electric engine to compliment the ICE. They've used that configuration in Formula 1 for years, and it seems like the next evolution of the 911 as we progress towards an EV 911.

if you care about "driving experience" then you aren't driving "most of what's on the road" - I'm simply stating that for example I believe most people would fine a Bolt to be Better than a Ford Focus, and the Model 3 to be better than a Accord in terms of daily driving and in the area most people can tell acceleration and responsiveness
if you're comparing an EV for "driving" experience you already are outside the demongraphic of 95% of the cars being driven...
but I'd also argue there's an EV for you also - it's call the Taycan…

It's not about max torque though. EVs have max torque at 0 rpm while a ICE engine (turbo or not) has to rev. I'm not giving up my GT4 as my driving enjoyment car, but certainly there's an EV in my future.
