My 2018 Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo has a "Leather Interior in Saddle Brown/Luxor Beige" option which was only $530 and yet the interior is gorgeous...full leather dash, deviated stitching, etc. Obviously it's because the Turbo trim already came with a really nice leather interior which was only slightly upgraded by that option.

The Taycan Turbo and Turbo S come with a Leather Interior. The base and 4S Taycan come with a "Standard partial leather interior" which costs nearly $5k to upgrade to Leather. I've only ever sat in and/or driven a Turbo or Turbo-S.

How big a difference in look and feel is the Standard? Trying to spec a base or more likely 4S without going nuts...but I *really* like the interior of my Panamera

The 4S that I test drove had a standard interior. It was nice enough but the full leather interior, on any Porsche really, is much more special. Personally, I wouldn't order a Taycan without full leather, even if staying within your budget means sacrificing some other more "frivolous" options.

Yeah, completely agree. Some people don't care about the rubber "pebble" dash. To me, I can't stand it. Need the leather / faux leather bits. Just a personal thing. But if the OP has it now and really likes it, I doubt he'll be able to go back.

Standard leather on the Taycan is nicer than the sports cars because it has a synthetic dash that looks like leather instead of the cheesy wrinkled rubber. Check one out at a dealer before spending extra, surprisingly nice

Thanks all. I'll definitely check it out in person before ordering. Sounds like I'll want the leather but who knows?

I have been considering a new Taycan. Spent an hour recently in a 4S with the standard black interior. Personally, I felt very claustrophobic. Hardly any contrasting materials within the cabin. Too much black plastic, etc. The rear door interior panels look and feel like a cheap domestic. If I was going to stick with the base interior, I would go with anything but black. Too me, the base interior is where Porsche cut costs on this model. It will be leather for me, more specifically the black/chalk interior. That said, it seems that a majority of base and 4s models come with the standard black interior. I guess most people don’t mind them. Maybe they aren’t as accustomed to how nice some Porsche interiors can be.

I look at my car interior almost as I would look at a house. Certainly I want a nice looking exterior and landscaping, but the 'interior' is by far the most important part. It's where I'll be spending virtually all of my time when I'm there. I try to make the interior as nice as possible, but not crazy with $2,000 worth of Porsche Cresting, etc...

I think the standard interior is very nice compared to just about any other car. There are some opportunities to make it really nice though. Definitely full leather, and the Olea gets you covered/stitched setbacks as well as better quality leather.

I say performance is the most important part of a Porsche. Interior? Waste of money. Standard is good enough. Just buy a nice house.

I agree that an all black interior is too dark and confining (for me), whether it's all leather or not. Just "too much" for me, and that doesn't even factor in the heat issues.

Same here - though I do like leather seating surfaces to sit on and leather covered steering wheel (and shift **** - if applicable) to hold on to.

But IMHO any car maker that doesn't offer an upscale version of their car with a non-leather interior is missing a bet. There are a lot of vegetarians with money to burn. I remember when I first bought my Gen 2 Volt, one of the first in Silicon Valley, and was talking with another fellow who had just bought one. He was from India and lamented that he had to buy a base level car, rather than a fully (otherwise) optioned Premier, because he didn't want leather seats.

That's why Porsche offers the upgraded Race Tex interior which is made from recyclable vegan materials.

Full leather is a bitter but necessary expense as it really makes a huge difference in this car. It only hurts for a short time but it is a significant improvement.

I have the standard interior in gray, all good. Luckily I have another car with leather when I need a fix.
