Taycan vs 911 Seating Experience

Taycan vs 911 Seating Experience
Newbie here. The 911 the nicest car in the world to sit in. From seat comfort, to forward visibility and sense of openness plus the 911 is perfectly sized, but I am looking for more of a GT experience from a NVH standpoint. Along comes the base Taycan, thinking that it could be a perfect GT (though longer than I would like), sitting in it felt kind of claustrophobic. Seemed like the windshield is not as tall as the 911's, felt more tank like from a looking out standpoint. For those who have experienced both, is my perception off or does the 911 indeed feel more open from the drivers seat? Thanks in advance.

I drove to the dealer in my 991.1 GT3 and got out of it to test drive a Taycan 4S. I didn't experience at all the sense of being closed in; the car seemed roomier inside than my 911. But you're asking a very subjective question so I don't know if my thoughts on the subject are much help.

Thank you kindly for your prompt reply. It is helpful. There is just something about sitting in the 911 that feels perfect. Is it possible that you sit lower in the car in the Taycan? I have read something that effect. I prefer lower belt line cars.

911 definitely feels more open to me as well. In the Taycan, the front seatback is almost behind the B-pillar. A totally different seating arrangement. The commonly ordered all black interior adds to that perception in my opinion.

Thank you Captain Scurry. This perfectly explains it. You kind of wear a 911, which I have always liked, whereas sitting further back in a Taycan your perceived vertical field of view would be reduced and make it feel less open to the outside when looking forward. I don't see this conflicting with perception of interior spaciousness cited in the previous post. I just didn't do a good job of articulating my experience in my first post. Not suggesting that it isn't something that one wouldn't readily adjust to.

Your perception is not off. I drove up to my Taycan test drive in a 991. I felt cramped getting into the Taycan. Felt more comfortable getting behind the wheel of the 991 to go home.
just did the same thing again this weekend, but different 911. Similar result but not as vivid. There is an awkward relationship in the Taycan to the roof, seat and wheel. Think it’s because of the battery pack. It’s a tight squeeze getting in and out.

I completely agree with what has been said here....there is something awkward in getting in and out...for me it feels more like egress and ingress with my huracan.....whereas everything about a 911 is just perfect....now i will say once i am in i feel extremely comfortable and have no issues but that is likely my 5'10" height that makes it work...also while the rear window is surprisingly small, it works well and placement is perfect to see what I need to in rear view mirror.

I’m 6’2”, tall torso and once inside fit decently. Owing a Model 3 I am used to the gun slit rear window. I do miss the IMAX view out the front of that car. Even my 911 can’t match it.
