2022 Taycan Base Order Confirmed!
I was very lucky and managed to get a base Taycan allocation from my favorite Porsche dealer here in the Bay Area and expecting delivery end of April/early May.
I have 25 days before the build is locked. Here is the code for reference: http://www.porsche-code.com/PN59VJL8 As a first-time EV owner, are there any must-haves I am missing? Maybe the extended battery? I'm not too anxious about range as we will put in a charger at home - this will be more of a second car - commuting once a week into San Francisco and the south bay. Our other car is a gas-guzzling Range Rover that will do the heavy lifting for longer journeys and dog duty.

Looks good for a low-cost build. Pcarwhisperer did a video on building something under $100k and I'll see if I can find and post it.
Two recommendations of mine-
1. See if you can stop by a Porsche dealer and try sitting in each model of seat (base, 14-way, 18-way). They fit different people rather differently. As a skinnier person, the 18-ways feel much more comfortable to me.
2. Consider adding the adaptive cruise control. Simple ACC is a huge de-stressor to me when commuting in traffic and having the ACC is required for you to add any subscriptions to any of the other Features On Demand and may be a good idea for re-sale someday.

Lots of this is personal. Great color i have same coming soon
full leather makes cabin feel much richer
14 way are fine. Mine has 18 i can live w either
I’d add folding mirrors
prefer black trim
i would add the 150kw charger it will keep your dc fast charge options open
i personally would add the battery
if i could have skipped the glass roof on the cross tour i would have. There is no shade for it
consider surround view and lane change assist
i hate Nannie’s but these work well
those light seat belts may show dirt, black could be fine

Most existing EV owners would suggest that you get the largest battery available on whatever EV you might consider.
Even if you don’t think you need it now, you’ll likely find that the extra range will come in useful at times and it will DEFINITELY improve the trade-in/resale value when it’s time to move on.

Burning Brakes
Thoughts:
1. Without pulling up a spreadsheet, it looks like you selected a lot of the Premium Package components individually, might make sense to get it all - the delta can’t be much now.
2. Get the massaging seats. This is such an underrated option.
3. Silver window trim - to each his own. But it makes me barf.
4. Big battery - a big topic if it’s “worth it”. I opted for it thinking about the long term capacity. We know these batteries will degrade over time and day-to-day charging should only be 85% anyway.

Add the Premium Package (with Lane Change Assist, not the tech pack).
For $1760 on top of your config you add:
- power folding morrors (ok)
- surround view (really nice)
- ionizer (meh)
- storage package (quite nice for a daily, gives you usable storage underneath the central display)
- PDLS+ (ok)
- lane change assist (really nice)
As far as a Porsche goes that's a lot of extra for little extra money. As someone else said before you already have about half of the package, but you're paying a lot more per option without the bundle.
Personally I'd remove the window trim (it's gonna be the only silver accent on a car with otherwise lots of matte black accents), and I'd remove the light seatbelts (big fan of a contrasting seatbelt personally, and black with light interior does that). They're pretty expensive options on a base build with little aesthetic benefit (if any, although that's personal taste).

Thanks for the advice, appreciate it. Going to swap out the options and just get the premium package. I hadn't run the numbers properly and this makes a lot of sense.
Interesting on the black trim vs silver trim. I actually can't stand black trim on a blue car. Totally get it on greys, silvers, blacks, but love the silver trim on blue or dark red as it really shows the shape of the car especially on a 911 or Taycan. I guess because I normally spec our cars more luxury spec with navy blue with tan leather than sporty colors.

Thank you for this. Very helpful. It has made me re-consider what I thought were minimum requirements. One question on "mobile charger connect" . I'm not sure what value it adds? Without it I can't change the charging amperage?

Okay so didn't get some options but did get the following on my soon to be delivered car (see below).
Pre-delivery prep completed - outside prep and wash/detail
- Performance Battery yes (why not...the most range and charge you need is always a plus with and EV)
- ACC yes (as traffic gets more and more congested depending on where you live...its helpful and on long trips invaluable. Had it on my old RS5 SB and made a long 1200 mile trip once just a breeze...as close to autonomous driving as I want to be for now!)
- Folding Mirrors Yes (its a wide car like the Panamera so when you need it you'll need it especially when parking)
- 150kw charger on board No (wish I did given cost)
- Rear Wheel Steer (never had it and another thing to break but lots of folks rage on it)
- Massaging seats Yes (I had heated seats and massaging ones in my RS5 and man if you have back problems they can make your time going/coming blissful)
- Panoramic glass roof Yes (depends on where you live but even without a shade its a cool feature and adds headroom a bit. Prior 991.1 I retrofitted with the glass moonroof option and thus lost my sliding shade and had a concern also about heat problems....no worry a good tint specialist put the best ceramic tint avail in the sunroof about 35% and it kept the interior cool even in Arizona desert heat for two long years and then some! A Taycan glass roof should be easy to do and will be one thing I check out when my car arrives....also there's the new variable glass roof Porsche just announced with the Taycan GTS so check that out)
- Intelligent Trip manager No (heard that most phone apps plug PlugShare and ChargePoint to a better job)
- Mobility Charger No (Can get a good level 2 for less. Tons on Amazon and I just got a 240V 50 amp additional plug done at the house and added a WallBox 40AM NEMA 14-150 plug and works great...no need for Porsche's extra $1200 or so charger).
- Full interior leather No (never really do that...its a car not an office or living room has always been my opinion. Looks great but I am supposed to be driving...not looking at the leather stitch...IMHO)
- HUD Yes (anything that helps keep my attention on the road is good especially when i am going someplace unknown. Loved my old RS5 SB virtual cockpit function...almost got a GT etron instead but no hatch avail just for that)
- 4+1 seating No (lots of folks say yes but from what I hear in the back it just is an uncomfortable seat for anyone from what I can see for any long period of time)
Pre-delivery prep completed - outside prep and wash/detail

Thanks - that is super helpful. I am now 3 days out from freeze date (!) and have changed a few things. I was really trying to keep it under $100k as we have a 2023 Range Rover on order (which is already too expensive and I'm concerned it is going to be "market adjusted" by the dealer given high demand) but the new options on my Taycan has pushed it to $104k. That said, the difference over a 3 year lease isn't major and I want to be happy with the car.
Here's the final build:

Wow, you got a discount on the new 2023 Range Rover which isn't even at dealerships yet?
