Good design by Porsche. I know exactly where that is. Dumb parents, dumb kid driving.

This will be very common when electric cars can all do 0-60 in sub-4 and sometimes sub-3 second. This will be an unintended consequence of EVs. People can't drive slow cars well. Imagine when everyone can go supercar fast.

I see it every night on the highway. I have personally witnessed ******** speeding in excess of mid triples on local highways, as I am sure most of us have but do not speak about it.

i expect that new regulations will be enforced in the future to limit the quarter-mile speed; the car community will not be happy about it.

Well FWIW this is a story as old as kids, fast cars, and booze.
When I was a kid it was someone drinking and joy riding their parents 930 turbo.
Or my buddy to wrecked his moms Volvo wagon doing the same thing
Or... Or....

Kids are still going to be kids, but the cars are not nearly the same as 30-40 years ago

Yes totally agree. Anybody can get themselves killed in any car since almost all cars will go 80 mph and that is more than enough to kill. I think the issue in the past was a car that can get to 80 mph in 4 seconds was pretty rare and unaffordable to most. Today, every soccer mom has a Tesla or other EV that can do it, making the instances of immature drivers causing havoc much more common place. When I was a kid modifying your Camaro to do an 11 second quarter mile was expensive so few could do it, and still plenty of kids killed themselves and others, combining a fast car with alcohol or stupidity. Rarely did a kid borrow mom's family sedan that was a 11 second car. Now commonplace. Fortunately I believe the cars in the future will be sold with software that will allow owners to limit the cars abilities when they hand the keys to their teenage kids for date night. "dad can I borrow the car?" " Sure, but I have programmed the car to go no faster than 55 mph and 0-60 in 10 seconds. Oh and by the way the computer can detects blood alcohol levels of the driver via sensors in the steering wheel and disable the car completely" The future is here soon. Unfortunately the state may want to take control of your cars ability and remove the ability from even the adult owners to break the law. Your EV will be able to do 0-60 in 2 seconds but big brother will not allow you to control it.
