Description:
I am selling my 2006 Cayman S as I just ordered a C8 and need to make room in the garage. I am the 3rd owner of the car as the 2nd owner had it for most of its life and put on the majority of the miles. I've owned it for about a year and in that time I had it fully repainted by Petty's Garage as I wanted all the little rock chips and such to be gone. The body and paint is in perfect condition and if you are familiar with Petty's Garage you will know the quality of the paint job. I've also put on brand new Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires and they have less than 2k miles on them.
PM me with interest or any questions.
During the time I've owned it the car has been rock solid and it's been fun to drive. I've done the regular maintenance of oil changes and such.
I have a box of receipts from the previous owner (owned since 2009 and 16k miles) so it is all documented in terms of the build of the car.
The car has PASM; PCM 2.1 Navigation; Bose System Stereo; SportChrono; Sport Steering Wheel; Standard Black Interior and 19 Carrera Sport wheels.
This car has higher miles but it's been to Montana and through the Rockies and to the Smokies and Carolinas many times. It's an extremely well built car and I've had no hesitation about taking it on road trips. Drove it from Chicago to Charlotte with no second thoughts.
The previous owner used Euroquippe in St. Charles for anything on the car that was challenging or that an amateur could mess up.
He knew the Cayman's had some potential issues and made a plan to deal with them before driving it.
There are A LOT of mods not stupid ones, good ones!
ENGINE:
GT3 Air-Oil-Separator (AOS);
GT3 intake plenum and throttle body;
Softronic 93 octane software
SpeedArt TUV approved (mild) cat-back exhaust.
Always used Joe Gibbs DT40 or Motul oil. It has always been changed regularly
A deep sump oil pand (holds 10 quarts) with baffle setup was added for longevity of the engine.
TTP (German) Oilsafe kit installed. This is a GT3 double oil pump made by Porsche with a very permanent and stout braided SS line tapped into the left front valve cover. It pumps out oil that would normally sit in the valve cover trapped during spirited turning. When oil gets trapped there, especially at higher RPMs, the oil gets churned into foam .air is bad for oil pumps and lines. This gets the oil out of that area and back in the sump before it can be churned up. Having it in the sump where it belongs means the sump is full and not running low This engine gets enough oil always. Lack of oil is what destroys these engines.
Underdrive pulley: This slows down the accessory drive belt by 10%. Makes everything last longer at higher RPMs. The drive belt is 1 shorter than stock (from Gates). It's new.
Euroquipe designed and added a power steering cooler installed under the front license plate. It works great. No problems ever with power steering pump or reservoir.
Water pump was recently replaced (4k miles ago) along with a low temp thermostat and a new and updated expansion tank.
BRAKES:
PCCB Brake Master Cylinder was installed to firm up the brake pedal feel. It's a bigger diameter than stock but smaller than the GT3 master, which also fits this car.
Braided stainless steel brake lines
Castrol SRF brake fluid
AKEBONO carbon ceramic brake pads. These are nearly dust and squeal free great for normal driving.
Black grills installed in front of the 3 pods in the lower front. They come out fairly easily. They protect the AC and radiator coils from rocks and from leaves and corrosion.
SUSPENSION:
Bilstein Damptronic coil-overs: These are great! I had the fronts rebuild once. They actually damp!
TPC front and rear anti-roll bars and quiet drop links installed.
Tarrett rear toe-links holds suspension settings much better.
GT3 front lower control arms allow front camber changes by putting shims in to change the length of the arms. The Cayman already has adjustable camber in back. Car gets good tire wear and the car just sticks in hard corners.
TPC front strut tops and bearings are really heavy duty and have built-in camber for the front wheels.
TRANSMISSION:
Giken variable locking differential installed. The harder you press on the gas, the more lock you get. It will 100% lock or any percent less depending on engine torque.
New stock Porsche trans mounts were installed when water pump repair happened.
There is a B&M shift kit installed.
OTHER:
Heigo FIA-approved bolt-in roll bar.
RKA Harness bar. These are the best harness bars I've seen for Cayman. I took the liberty of removing a couple of the tabs on the carpeted engine box cover so engine can be accessed without pulling off this bar. If you do need to remove it, it comes off with a standard Allen wrench.
AUDIO:
A Dension Gateway 5000 is attached to the Bose system. It allows you to play iPod music through the Bose.
Enhanced subwoofer enclosure- Dramatically improves the sound of the Bose.
