Selling my 997s Continental Grand Am race car. Raced in Grand Am in 2012 by Rebel Rock Racing out of Miami Florida. As part of the purchase a new Porsche Motorsport motor and transmission was installed in 2013. It was raced for a few years by my friend and then i purchased it a few years ago and have been doing 1-2 Driver educations weekends a year for the past 4 years. It is probably the best set up Grand Am car in the country. Wright Motorsport installed a full Moton suspension and components.A stop tech trophy brake kit was installed. Too many upgrades to list and would be happy to answer any questions to prospective buyers. There are three sets of wheels and boxes of extra new parts that come with the car. I have a full book of records and log books with times at many tracks across the country. Was given a full look over by Auto Assets in November and she is needs absolutely nothing for the spring. Purchased new race car.6 speed manual.
Looks like it started as a regular Carrera or Carrera S, NOT a cup car. The picture of the engine clearly shows that the intake is from a "street" car, NOT a cup car. Cup Cars did not come with "manuals," they came with sequentials. No center lock wheels either.
flsupraguy sorry I havent checked in it has been a busy week. Yes as the title red it started as a factory Carrera S and was fully built out as a Grand Am car and raced by Rebel Rock racing out of Miami, FL for the 2012 season. My good friend purchased the car in 2013 from Rebel Rock and at that time a new Porsche Motorsport motor and transmission was installed. The car was then taken to Wright Motorsports and the suspension and brakes were completely replaced. The car has a GT3 intake plennum and tune. The car out handles a cup car and is 30 hp less than a cup car in its form. The reason I was interested in running this car is that the operating costs are significantly less than a cup car. Its like driving a stock 911 when it comes to the reliability. A properly set up 997 cup car is 75-90k. The reason for selling is that my friend that I bought this car from just retired from track events and I purchased his Cayman race car that has a sesquintial gear box. My son is 17 and I want him to be able to go to the track with me.
The car is ready to go. It just had a full look over and service by Auto Assets in Columbus, Ohio in November before I tucked her away for the winter. I had no intentions of really ever selling it because it is that good. I run with GT4's all day long on the track at half the price and with better safety.
Its a very special car.
Bill of Sale. Yes it has been a race car since 2010 from what I can remember. I have a full log book and records that show every receipt and build details. I just posted interior pictures since it was in storage just made it out to take pictures this week.
sqweak thank you so much for catching that. I will correct that in my add. I apologize for the confusion in the add it was titles 997s Grand Am car but many people may not know what a Grand Am car was. The beauty of this car is that it was built to a higher spec than a stock cup car of that era but have the reliability of the less expensive power train. Its the perfect DE car or you can still race it with NASA or go endurance racing. I love your blue Carrera what a nice car. I have a 74 Carrera with the Ducktail in light yellow. They would look great next to each other!
Its crazy to every think about selling this car. Everytime i take it to Mid Ohio I always get so many compliments. I am really hoping it goes to someone that understands what went into this build. Its the perfect car for someone that has a newer GT3 or GT4 and doesnt' want to bring such an expensive car to the track but wants to be able run similar track times at the track. I am running 1:39's at Mid Ohio and the previous owner was running 1:33's but I only get out in it 1-2 times a year since I have had it. Love your GT4RS in shark blue.
I just posted interior pictures for the car. Some notables that I forgot to mention; AIM on board telemetry, cool suite ready, air hose hookup for helmet, reserve one gallon gas tank, quick connect fuel system with two catch cans, transmission cooler, new batter and new sparco seat this year, ability to pump out the gas from tank so that you can monitor how much gas to put into tank for race. Happy to answer any question there are so many options to list.

Thanks!
Ever take it to Road America?
For me still comes down to truck and trailer and car vs just car. Probably makes more sense to have dedicated track car. But the trailer and truck is such an inconvenience vs driving to the track. It's such a great setup you have
I completely understand. I just took delivery of a Carrera T this past summer. It would ba great car to just drive to the track. I just cannot bring myself to bring my baby to the track. I have always had a hard time bringing a nice car to the track so its been nice to have the safety of a track car. Funny thing is that my friend also sold me his 28ft ATC car hauler so I now have two of those also that is the exact same trailer. I don't know which one to sell so I will definitely have one to sell if someone wants one. its nice to have shelter at the track with heat and AC etc. I know this car has been to Road America with my friend but I have always wanted to. TC Kline who I know likes to go there a lot and have always been facitnated with it with its long straight and beautiful setting. I will try to make it there in the next couple of years. Its not crazy far since I live in Columbus, Ohio.
Did this start originally as a cup car or carrera s?
Not permitted by the rules to be originally a Cup car, only a model that came off the production line.
