Shame this is viewed as “underpriced” or as a “steal” in this market … from my perspective, this is how much a rebuilt title 996 GT3 should trade hands for. I guess that’s what we get for treating cars as speculative commodities, rather than cars.

Perhaps I’ve just missed the boat, and am bitter as a consequence.

At any rate, sent a PM…interested if the deal falls through.

I agree, however there's also some additional value on this one considering it's not an accident rebuild. I've been following the 991.1 GT3 salvage cars, and those are trading around $60k, and then needing to be rebuilt. The 996 and 991.1 GT3's are about the same value. Maybe not the steal of the century but it does seem like a really good deal.

Don't waste your time. I struck a deal with seller last night to purchase at asking price sight unseen. Seller said
he was busy today, but come down tomorrow and complete deal. Started texting him this morning asking
for address, etc. No response until this afternoon. After a few more cryptic texts, he admitted selling to another buyer.

That’s what happens with hot items and a frenzy of buyers.

Yep. I also was sending him a message minutes after he posted. Weird how these sellers don't follow a standard process of first come, first serve at committed price. Is it more like - "whoever can drive here with the cash first wins"? lol

If you aren't the first to message someone the only way to get ahead is by saying "I'll do 60k for it" which to be honest you can't blame a seller for accepting. Money talks.

Yea, mediocre business people fall for that.

However experienced business people call the first person back explain to them that some Joe Shmoe offered $60K and that he has first right of refusal to match that.

People that are lacking communication skills... just don't reply to the first person they committed to at a price.

Crazy how some people wind up with Porsche vehicles.

Default gt3

Had his word that he would hold the car and I would come with my trailer at his asking price. If he wanted to change the terms of the deal, he should of at least had
the courtesy to call or text. Not a man of his word.

Selling a car privatly the seller choses the buyer. Don't take it personally as it's not about money. Sell a car for MAX dollars and the buyer chooses the seller. aka BAT. I enjoy these private deals immensely.

Agreed...basic communication would help the situation immensely (shrugs shoulder)

He didn’t owe the first “committed” buyer a ROFR if a higher subsequent bid was made, but I agree that’s what you do on principle. Depends entirely on what was said. If he said “it’s yours” to the first 50k buyer, then that’s that.

But the thing to do would have been to tell that first buyer he needed an immediate 10% deposit to secure the transaction, with full payment x days later.

After that, every subsequent inquiry would be met with “I have a deposit; if it falls through I’ll contact you in order of inquiries received.” Then if someone said 60 or 70, you never have to deal with the “that guy screwed me” chatter that inevitably follows.

Just make your terms clear. That’s how you avoid bullsh*t and litigation in big $ deals.

You think someone got it at that price? Sounds like the seller played naive and posted that price, just to start a bidding war to get the highest price in PMs...

Default Sold

I think it was a good deal. Buyer probably thought so too. Years from now I think there’s a good chance looking back it’ll be viewed as a good deal. Sold it for 55K probably could have gotten more. I didn’t play games to start a bidding war. I just wanted to get a quick deal as I am super busy at work and put in long hours and don’t have much time to work on selling the car. And I just signed the papers on a equally special car and wanted to put the money on that.

I do feel bad that someone made arrangements to see the car tomorrow on my request but I ended up changing my mind and making it happen today for someone else. I apologize for wasting your time and the disappointment caused.

I am glad the person I sold the car to is a nice fellow that I got along real well with and that I think Mr. Black is going to have a nice home.

Thank you for all the interest!

How many extra hours and work did it require for you to honor your word to, at the very ****ing least, the person you made arrangements to show the car to on Thursday or the one above that says you had plans to meet today before you sold it out from under both of them?
