Default Stock or upgrade brakes. HD2500

For those of you towing with a 3/4 ton are you upgrading the front pads and rotors or going with stock? I tow about 12K lbs. and need front brakes. Thanks. Don

I used Hawk LTS pads on my F250, worked great for stopping, but they do produce quite a bit of dust compared to stock.

I can't remember what compound, but ordered Hawk pads from Tire Rack, whichever had the highest reviews/ratings for towing. I've been impressed so far, but haven't done any runs through the TN mountains yet. They seem to have a lot better bite, but yes, a lot more brake dust.

Stock brake pads - - good trailer brakes (ATC 24' about 8K loaded) - - 2002 GMC K2500 with Alison transmission (it will hold the trailer back on downhills also) - - no problems or over heating . . . we travel to Cal, Utah, and COTA - - AZ has some good long hill climbs also . . .

I also run the Hawk LTS on my 2012 K2500HD. Never had any problems getting it slowed down.

I am about to upgrade the pads on my 2021 F-250, not because of performance so much but because they dust so badly. A lot of guys on the forums seem to like the PowerStop Truck & Tow pads for the HD trucks.
