Default New Timpte trailer

I was in the market for a new trailer and needed something I could store at the house, could nicely work with the cup, carry UTVs and even mini excavator. I looked at Futura and loved that idea (that the deck lowered) but getting one from overseas with long lead times and not awesome dealer communication and/or parts availability had me worried. I saw Timpte and they are new to the scene and essentially a copy of the deck lowering concept of Futura. Timpte makes those big grain trailers for big rigs, and they do it in Nebraska. I decided to go for it and just picked up a 720 (20’ 7000k GVWR) trailer. Just got it home and I am impressed so far.

A few other random thoughts.

- we had to adjust the jack, but it’s easy, it rides on a channel where we loosen the bolts and adjust as needed. Very nice.
- the safety chains aren’t very long. Will need to customize.
- the recovery winch is bolted to the channel that runs the width of the front and both sides allowing for customized placement (as long as the cable reaches and there is a lot extra)
- build quality is nice.
- the wheels are too fancy for me. Anyone want to trade for some steelies?
- the remote works from about 10’ away to lower/raise. It squeaks as it raises, I suspect things need grease under there.
- I will do a test load and see where the tongue weight sweet spot is. I suspect pretty far forward.
- i need to replace the recovery winch line with synthetic. Maybe do the lift/lower winch at some point?
- complete trailers of Texas (in CO and CA too) was a joy to work with and have stock!

I just bought one of these as well, picked it up on Tuesday. Mine's the 1020 (10klbs GVW limit). So far I'm really impressed, comparing to my Featherlite that got stolen during the quarantine.

Coincidentally, I picked it up from the same place you got yours.

I swapped the tires/wheels out for 15" 205/75r15 Goodyear Endurance (D rated at this size) on simple mod style steel wheels. I would have liked to go 225/75/r15 and get to E rating but they will not fit (seriously, I tried). The stock wheels/tires are nice (aluminum 14" with D rated tires), just not my style and I wanted the goodyears for piece of mind.

I also ordered a Victron BMV-712 battery monitor w/ BT so I can have a gauge on the battery level. I use Victron stuff everywhere, so this is my goto.

They also have stake pockets which can be used directly as tie down point or with something like Mac's Monkey Face.

Thank you for this tid bit of info. I am also going to upgrade to a 15" tire and wheel on my new Timpte 720 that I am picking up friday. I sold my 3rd aluma tilt and was ready to not to have to carry ramps.

I also got a Timpte 720 - from Complete Trailers in CO although I live in CA. I wanted the 720 and they only had the 718 in San Diego.

Anyway - I had the inaugural run yesterday. I have my 991.2 GT3 Cup on it. I have to say - it wasn't as easy as I was hoping. Even with the front lip removed from the car the front end would scrap considerably without additional wood ramps. I made it work with what I have but I'm disappointed that I'll need to build or buy something. I was really hoping to be done with messing with ramps. Also - while the trailer is 81" bed width it's a tight fit. Probably tighter on the front than the rear actually but this is due to the extreme camber on the Cup.

Anyone have a ramp solution for the Timpte or maybe a Futura? I think both are advertised with a 4 degree approach.

I just picked mine up Friday. I too way fighting the approach angle with my 991.2 S, that has lots of camber and is low. What we finally figured out is the nose was too tall. Once I dropped the ball down we had zero issues getting the car on and off. We had almost 3" of difference front to rear on the deck being level.

You might try that and see what it does for you.

Good idea! I think I have one more notch lower I can go on the adjustable hitch. I also got a set of race ramps to try, these. They are extensions and may help. I haven't even tried the car with the front lip yet. Hopefully I get them ahead of the next track day on 4/8.

Those will do the trick too, I just don't want to carry ramps when I use my Q7. When I use the RAM no big deal, just not a lot of storage in the Q7.
