Believe it or not, but they still don't offer the option of selecting 'PDK' when you're making a for sale listing, and you have to select something or it won't post. I'm sure whoever's looking for one of these probably knows it's not a Tip though

I saw this car today.
I'd missed buying a local, new, GT Silver GT3 by a few hours, and I thought I'd see the red (not my first choice) and see if the color, and car moved me.
The color is really pretty, especially with the red stitching inside. The front air dam black plastic has a few minor scuffs on the underside, otherwise the car is flawless. I was a bit surprised by the clear bra. There were a few areas where air bubbles were evident on the windshield.
Finally, I was surprised by the representative. The seller is the owner of an elite car dealership. When I asked to take a ride in the car, I was refused unless I signed a contract first.
I understand not letting folks drive a new supercar presale. I sort of understand not letting folks drive a nearly new supercar. I don't understand refusing to let a buyer ride in the car while the seller drives the used car.
The 991 GT3 is a new model, with an unusual history, expecting a local buyer to commit to a sale (above MSRP) without seeing the (used) car in action is beyond me.
Red wasn't my first choice in color, but if the car impressed, I would have pulled the trigger. The choice given to me was so bizarre, I'll wait for my place in line, or pick up one of the new GT3s that are being offered by other members.

FWIW, I think this is a common practice for cars that are new or essentially new. When I bought my new GT3 in 2007 for $162k, I was not able to test drive the similiar car they had in the showroom, before or after I signed the contract.
From a buyer's perspective, I prefer a new car's miles be low so I fully understood the dealership's position. The reality is this car is new for all intents and purposes, even if it has 488 miles on it.

As the owner of the car, I want to say that it is not my intention to insult anyone interested in the car. I specifically left word with my sales guys that as the car is still in break in miles I did not want them to do any test drives. Perhaps this was not communicated well but hopefully you will understand my hesitation. Second to the miles, we always try to be considerate with how we steward our inventory from past owner to future owner, I drive every car we buy or consign personally so I know what to represent to you but beyond initial drive we do not casually drive any of our cars as we want them to be best possible quality and lowest possible miles for the next owner. Test drives are always an important part of purchasing a new/used car and when able we will always offer and understand the importance of your interest.
If someone has interest in my GT3 or any of my inventory and feels my guys have not handled them appropriately, please let me know and I will gladly deal with you directly. I strive to be the best I can and am an owner of Porsche's as well as a seller so give me a chance to help if I can.

Great looking car, honestly don't know why anyone would really need to test drive it. If you are into these cars, you pretty much know what you are getting.
