This new GT3 has only 88 miles. It has had one demo drive, accompanied by yours truly, without any flogging or misuse (the other miles are from Porsche engineering after the engine swap, and required driving by our service technician upon re-delivery to our facility).
It does come with the extra 1-year Porsche Approved warranty per the engine replacement benefit (providing a 5-year/50k mile warranty from date of purchase). There is no in-service date—this vehicle is brand new.

Beautiful car...88 demo miles?....humm... Dealers all tell me no demo drive on the GT3! Wish this had the sport bucket seats though.

must have been a really long demo ride.

Somehow I knew I would be challenged on this.
We get new VWs in with 4 miles sometimes. But NEVER a Porsche. All Porsches go through some testing prior to loading on the vessel. Then, something like 1-of-10 (very VERY rough estimate) will be pulled from the line for more thorough evaluation by an engineer on the test track. They frequently pull vehicles that are marked "customer sold" for this quality check. That might add 10-15 miles, making a new car with 20+ miles not unusual as it rolls off the transporter at the dealership.
At our dealership, we don't have a very good demo drive loop in our neighborhood, so for a decent drive we have to go down the road a little ways. Our short demo lap is 4.1 miles; the middle lap is about 7 miles, the fun loop is approx 16 miles, and the real "demo" loop is 21 miles. For a car like the GT3, it of course needs to be properly warmed up, so the first several miles are just cruising, warming the engine and tranny.
The requirement (for the dealership) after engine replacement is to "drive normally for a distance of approx 25 miles; Only drive with the selector lever in position "D"; maximum engine speed 7000 rpm."
So it would add up something like this:
1 mile when it rolled off the factory
+15 miles of Stuttgart test-track
+7 miles initial PDI
+15 miles Atlanta technician
+25 miles for our road test
+21 miles for demo drive
(give-or-take)

This is why I sold my 997TTS last year and went back to air cooled cars. Don't take this the wrong way but modern cars are meant to be driven and are not intended to be instant collectibles that appreciate at an exorbitant rate. It's a car that's still readily available and in production hence easily replaceable for the foreseeable future. I'll leave now...
