Here's the scoop.

BBS ordered all of the Porsche wheels for the US market without the laser etching… Germany sells the Porsche wheels in their market WITH the “Motorsport” etching.

The bigger than usual 5x130 bolt circle does not provide much room between the lug opening and the spoke area. The OE cap looks much nicer in the wheel without the etching. So, If any Porsche wheels in the US market have the writing on them, they were not purchased from BBS of America...

Here is a picture with, that a customer sent me:

And here is another without, provided to me by BBS USA:

The wheels are in at this time in almost all sizes and in silver or black. Please contact me if interested!
So for those that are interested could you get the German version?

Had a chance the other day and talked to Craig at BBS-USA. He told me that,

1) they did a marketing poll and that most of their "big Porsche customers" did not want that etching.
2) the lettering was smaller due to the Porsche bolt circle.
3) BBS-USA had to pay for R&D on these wheels and that Germany only picked them up afterwards.
4) 18" versions are still a long way out (vendor on another forum claims spring 2011).
5) they do monitor forums and are aware of the PCA, SCCA, AX, DE, tracking issues with members looking for 18s.
6) most of the blame is being layed on Germany mainly due to business/financial reasons.
7) those who source these from Germany with the etching would not receive support as they are considered grey market by BBS-USA.

Not sure how much of the above I was told is CYA or it being an issue with BBS being an OEM to Porsche.

BBS-USA number is 877.832.8209. Call them and voice your Opinion.

Looks much better without the lettering.

No 18's is BS though. I would think most of the market is still 18's for Porsche...though I guess I'm wrong. That's my wheel once they pull their heads out of their asses.

Actually most of Europe and Japan wants the larger OE sizes, so that's what gets made first. Over here we think they listen to us first. It isn't the case.

i hv just got this set on last week for 7GT3
excellent offset..the front 8.5J has slightly lower offset than stock so that "widens" the front a bit for lesser understeering and the rear at 11J +56 offset, u can remove the factory spacers now. Fitment is so so so perfect.

Damon..PM me for fitment on a 2009 997 S for 19" wheels. Car color is Porsche Racing Green which I can't find on your website to "preview" the wheel on the car. See all the other colors. Also confused as to whether my OEM TPS will fit them. Please clarify and also stock status. May order myself a new labor day present if your news is favorable!
