Yes the two red wires connect to the positive terminal. If they are in rough shape take them off and crimp on new connectors. There are crimp connectors available with heat shrink, those work great....

Ouch. Looks like the oil pump gear came off. Don't know if the engine is interference. At the very least you need to do a thorough check of the cam snouts, gears, waterpump pulley and tensioner....
