With some help from 968.net I have checked the wiring diagram and the 'EX' light is fed from a catalytic converter monitor. This also has a cat temp sensor attached to it (mine is Japanese model)....

Well it looks like it's a non starter for me at the present as the temperature here in Dubai is already over 100. Come July and August it'll be 120 minimum everyday.

Belt and Braces

Finally put the car into the shop to have the belts looked at. Balance belt looked rough as a badger's butt. Cambelt getting slick also. In the end all the belts replaced and the roller bearings....
