My 964 had had its wing mirrors stolen at one point (with a PO) and the receipts for the work showed that they had indeed removed the door...

Exactly... not sure how good that brand would be on a 964. If I was looking at another 964 to buy and saw Avon tyres I'd walk away. Call me ignorant, but they don't inspire confidence.

Christer, if it does rust it will be in like 6/8 years from now. Most likley you'll never see it, but the future owner will. My guess is thats why you had that rust bubble by your rear window as well.

Try asking Jonas at JZs, they replaced mine and I'm quite sure they used sealant. As Pete says, the workshop manual says to use it.
