presonally I would not go with the factory CD player, but instead use an aftermarket. I pulled my CDR220 out because I did not like it. replaced the headunit and it made a big difference in sound...

If you can hear the motor run, I bet one of the top transmissions went out. Pretty easy to replace yourself, but I would check to see that the motor is working correctly, and none of the top parts...
